Sumter County deputies seize firearms after car break-ins, dirt bike theft
The Sumter County Sheriff's Office (SCSO) seized multiple firearms after a string of car break-ins and a stolen dirt bike.

SCSO said deputies responded to several car break-ins on Friday, Nov. 1 on Lakeshore Avenue, Highway 19 and Parkers Mill Creek Road. A dirt bike was also stolen during the car break-ins.
Later, deputies spotted two people on dirt bikes leaving a local gas station in Americus, and one of the bikes matched the description of one that was reportedly stolen.
Deputies obtained information from a witness that led them to a home on 1st Montgomery Street where several bikes were located.
A search warrant obtained for the home resulted in the seizure of multiple firearms, some reported stolen.
SCSO arrested one person and charged them with theft by receiving stolen property and other arrests are forthcoming.
