Chase Sexton, who was the only rider to run with Jett Lawrence at Pala, crashed in practice this week, and suffered a concussion and will miss Saturday's Hangtown National. Chase was also diagnosed with mononucleosis at the same time. The loss of Sexton weakens the 450 field significantly.

Chase Sexton said, "I’m super-bummed to miss this weekend's race.I feel like I rode well at Pala, and I was really looking forward to Hangtown because it's a good track for me. Unfortunately, I was already pretty banged up from my qualifying crash on Saturday, and now with mono and Tuesday's concussion on top of it, I want to do the right thing and hopefully be back on the track soon."

Josh Mosiman (171) qualified for the 450 class on MXA's Yamaha YZ450F and was running 15th when he collided mid-air with buddy Fredrick Noren, cutting his finger and elbow. Josh dropped back to 40th to check if his finger tip was still attached and then climbed back up to 33rd. He raced the second moto and finished 28th. Next stop? Hangtown on a 2023-1/2 GasGas MC450F Factory Edition.

• MXGP SCHEDULE CHANGE: VIETNAM IS OUT, MAGGIORA IS IN

The September 17, 2023, Grand Prix of Vietnam has been canceled, not uncommon for fly-away races and it is not also uncommon for any canceled GP to be replaced by an Italian track—in this case Maggiora.



Jorge Prado continues to lead the 450 World Championship points after seven rounds, mainly because Jeffrey Herlings (84) DNFed the second 450 moto in France when his footpeg fell off.

After 7 of 20 rounds, Romain Febvre (3) is third in the 450 points chase (tied with Honda's Ruben Fernandez). Making Febvre's placing all the more impressive is that he missed a race. Last Sunday in France, Febvre won the second moto—not bad for an old guy!

Glen Helen Raceway is proud of its San Bernardino, California, history. So when the Orange Show Fairgrounds, a local oval racetrack just a few miles from Glen Helen announced that they were going honor motorcycle racer and Indy 500 driver Swede Savage with a marker on the grounds of the National Orange Show race track memorializing the 50th Anniversary of Swedes death while leading the 1973 Indianapolis 500 .
